Brandon School District Update

Dear Brandon families, I am writing to share a brief update regarding the closing of school today. There was a shooting last night in Ortonville and the suspect fled on foot. The police searched throughout the evening, but the gunman is still at-large. As a precaution, we decided to close schools today. This is also beneficial to the police so they can focus all of their attention on apprehending the suspect. To clarify a few details, the suspect is NOT a Brandon School District employee and does not work for our custodial company either. There were students in our district affiliated with the family, but not since the 2015-16 school year. All district buildings are currently closed until further notice. We are hopeful that the police can bring this to a conclusion soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Dr. Matt Outlaw
