News & Notes from BMS for January 22nd, 2021
BMS Athletic Update: 6th, 7th & 8th Co-Ed Swim/Dive - Practices begin on Monday February 1st, 2:45 - 4:30pm at Brandon High School Pool. Contact Coach Jessie Drogemuller if you plan to participate (jessiedroge@gmail.com). All interested participants must have a physical or MHSAA Health Questionnaire, along with a Brandon Athletic Contract on file before they can start practicing. All forms are available on our Athletic Website. 7th & 8th Competitive Cheer: Practices are scheduled to begin on Monday Feb 8th (Time is TBD) in the middle school cafeteria. We are currently in need of a middle school coach. Interested candidates should contact the athletic office or apply online through the Brandon School District website. All interested participants must have a physical or MHSAA Health Questionnaire, along with a Brandon Athletic Contract on file before they can start practicing. All forms are available on our athletic website.
7th & 8th Boys Basketball: Middle School Boys Basketball tryouts have been delayed and will now start on Monday February 22nd with games beginning March 3rd. As long as we have enough interest, we will run two teams (A-B Teams) for both grade levels. 7th grade will practice after school, 2:00-4:00pm and 8th grade will practice 4:00-6:00pm. 8th grade players will not be allowed to stay after school to wait for practice to start; they will need to leave and return at the scheduled start time. Due to a shortage of available basketball officials, games will be played on Wednesdays in the month of March (3, 10, 17, 24) and will resume two games per week on April 6, 8, 12 and 14 for a total of 8 games. There will be no games played over spring break (March 29 - April 2nd). All interested participants must have a physical or MHSAA Health Questionnaire, along with a Brandon Athletic Contract on file before they can start practicing. All forms are available on our athletic website: Winter Tryouts *ALL middle school spring sports will be able to start practice on April 15th. Lastly, any middle school student interested in playing club lacrosse this spring/summer, Omnia Lacrosse Club is holding tryouts on January 30th. Objectives for this virtual training include reviewing facts about mental health and suicide, learning warning signs of suicide, and sharing basic techniques to have conversations about suicide. Participants will also receive a list Oakland County mental health resources. Ski & Snowboard Club: Parks & Rec. are offering a great deal to all skiers and snowboarders. Please read the attached flyer for more details. Yearbook: The yearbook is truly the most important keepsake from this remarkable time. We are working hard to put together a historic book that will be looked back upon to remember one of the most unpredictable school years of all time.
