Spirit Days: Tuesday, March 7th, Read My Shirt Day & Thursday March 9th Brandon Blue Boys Basketball Penny War & Hoopfest: During the month of March we are supporting the Michigan Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with our Hoopfest Tournament and our Penny War. If you don’t know someone with a blood cancer, you probably know someone who has battled another form of cancer. More than 40% of new cancer therapies approved by the FDA between 2000 and 2015 were first approved for blood cancer patients but now help others as well. Working with the Michigan Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on their Pennies for Patients campaign, we can turn our spare change into real help for real people! The Penny War started on March 1st and will end on March 30th. Our goal is to raise $1700, that is a $100 per Seminar class. The Team Fee to participate in the BMS Hoopfest during the month of March also goes towards this $100 per Seminar class goal. The concept of a Penny War is that students put "pennies" in their Seminar container. The "pennies" count as a positive dollar amount. Then, during lunches, students can put non-penny money into other Seminar classes containers and this non-penny amount is subtracted from the positive amount. This is a "friendly" competition between classes and raises money to support the Michigan Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Have a great day and GO BLACKHAWKS!! Michael Tucker Principal |
