News & Notes from BMS for February 12th, 2018
Spirit Day: Monday, February 12th: Brandon Blue - SwimBrandon Township Public Library: On Friday, February 16th the Brandon Township Public Library will be closed for scheduled maintenance. The library will open back up from 1:00 -5:00 P.M. Please read the attached flyer for more details. Spring Count Day: This is a reminder that our Spring Count Day is Wednesday, February 14th. Friday, February 16th: This is an early dismissal day. Students will be dismissed at 10:55 A.M. Monday, February 19th: No school due to Mid-Winter Recess. School will resume on Tuesday, February 20th. Scholastic Writing Winners: Congratulations to the following Brandon Middle School students for winning a Scholastic Writing Award. The Scholastic Art and Writing Competition is one of the largest and most renowned competition in our country since 1923. Over 330,00 pieces of art and writing were submitted in the 2017 competition. Skylar Mullins won a Gold Key award which is the top 5-7% of all entries. Madison Elnicky won a Silver Key award which is the top 7-10% of all entries. Finally, Kaitlyn Talbot, Audrey Hine, and Sophia Gregurich won Honorable Mention awards which is the top 10-15% of all entries. Each student is invited to an award ceremony at the University of Iowa in March to receive a medal. 8th Grade Students and Parents: This Tuesday, February 13th Brandon High School will be hosting their annual 8th Grade Expo. starting at 6:00 P.M. sharp It is extremely important that every 8th grade student and their parents plan on attending. This expo will feature a Welcome to High School Presentation by administration, booths set up for you to see everything BHS has to offer, and most importantly schedule you for your classes next year. See you Tuesday night at Brandon High School. 8th Grade Schedule Cards: All 8th grade schedule cards are due to the Student Services Office on Monday, February 12th. We also have extra copies of the scheduling cards in Student Services. If you have any questions about the above stated items please contact our main office at 248-627-1800.
