News and Notes for Brandon High School for the Week of March 11, 2019
Spring Sports Begin: Monday, March 11th begins our Spring sports tryouts and season. Please make sure that you have a physical on file before you can participate. Senior Lock-In: Attention Senior Parents! The senior class officers started planning the senior lock-in at the Legacy Center in Oxford. They were able to secure a date of May 30th. We are looking for some parents that would be interested in helping out in planning and chaperoning this event. We are also looking for sponsorship to make this event the best it can be. If you would like to help, there will be an informational meeting on March 16th at 6 pm in room 150 of the high school. If you are unable to attend and would like to be involved, please email Cristina Sulisz (csulisz@brandon.k12.mi.us) to stay updated about the needs for this event. The senior class thanks you for your help! Juniors: The SAT test is less than a month away (April 9th). One of the best ways to prepare for this test is to go Khan Academy and utilize their practice materials. This can be found at https://www.khanacademy.org/sat Mandated Testing: 9th – 11th grade students will be taking state mandated testing on April 9th – 10th. Please make sure that your students are in school on these days, as these tests are mandatory for graduation as well. More information to come. Parent Teacher Conferences: We encourage all parents to attend our Parent Teacher Conferences which will be on Wednesday March 20th from 5:00 – 8:00. Career Expos: Oakland Schools and Waterford Kettering High School will be hosting career expos both for parents and students. Please see the attached flyers for these great opportunities that are happening on March 13th and March 26th. College Fair: Lake Orion High School puts on one of the best College Fairs in the state. If you are starting to look at colleges and universities, this event that will take place on March 18th is a must for our students. Please see the attached flyer for more details. Upcoming Dates to Place on Your Calendar Now: March 11th – Spring Sports Begin March 20th – Parent / Teacher Conferences (5:00 – 8:00) March 22nd – No School March 29th – ½ Day of School March 30th – April 7th – Spring Break Have a Great Week and Go Blackhawks!
