News and Notes for Brandon High School for the Week of September 7, 2020
Welcome Back: We are so excited to welcome you back to another great year at Brandon High School. We look forward to working with you all year long to bring to your students the very best possible educational experience. Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of our staff if you have any questions, comments, or concerns about anything at all. Please see the power point that was discussed during our parent webinar for additional information. Arriving at BHS: School starts each day at 7:20. Please note that the doors will not be open until 7:10 for students to enter. Please keep in mind that traffic could potentially back up on our service drive, so allow for extra time in the morning to arrive. Once your student is in the building, they are to go directly to their classroom or to the cafeteria for breakfast. Students should not be wandering or congregating in the hallways. Lockers will not be available, so every student will carry their items from class to class in their backpack. Dismissal: School releases each day at 1:50. Please note that all students (including athletes) must exit the building at this time. Breakfast and Lunch: Until December 1st, basic lunch and breakfast is free for all students. Please bring extra money for our ala carte line and to purchase extra food. We will still be doing meals for pick up for our online students as well. Please see the attached document for further details about ordering this food ahead of time. Student Schedules: Please see the attached letter that was sent out earlier this week about your student’s schedule. Please note that if your student has a class called “TBD,” “Summit Virtual,” or “VHS Collaborative,” these classes will be online and still to be determined. Brian Moore, our Summit Virtual Coordinator will be contacting you to set these up. Please be patient, as he is working diligently to get with all students. Mr. Moore can be reached at bmoore@brandon.k12.mi.us. Maps of BHS: For those incoming freshmen or new students attending BHS this Fall, there is a map to help guide you through the building. We will have many staff members all throughout the hallways the first week of school if you need guidance on where a class is located. Desk Cleaning: At the end of each class period, we are asking our students to wipe down their desk or work station with a disinfectant wipe. These are hospital grade wipes and completely safe for 99.9% of our students. If you would like to opt your student out of performing this task, please contact the Principal Dan Stevens at dstevens@brandon.k12.mi.us. Attached you will find the data sheet about the chemical Oxivir that is used in these wipes. Chrome Books: All Brandon Learn From Home students should have received their chrome books last week. If you were unable to obtain it then, please contact our technology department in order to arrange a time for pick up. They can be reached at help@brandon.k12.mi.us Our face-to-face students will receive their chrome books sometime within the first two weeks of school. Please make sure that you bring these to school with you each day fully charged.
