News and Notes From Brandon High School for the Week of September 21, 2020
Back To School Everyday: We are excited to have your students back full time! Starting this Thursday, September 24th, all face-to-face students will be back to school everyday. We will still follow our block schedule only attending 3 class periods a day. Start and end times remain the same (7:20 – 1:50). Back To School / Curriculum Night: Come and join us this Tuesday, September 22nd to meet your student’s teachers virtually starting at 6:00. These brief presentations will cover expectations, materials needed for class, and provide to you a framework for each class. Please see the attachment for links to every teacher’s zoom meetings. Wednesday, September 23rd: Only seniors will need to report to school this Wednesday, September 23rd for SAT testing. All students grades 9-11 should access hours 4-6 on their teacher Google websites and complete the assigned lessons. Seniors: All seniors (both face to face and those that are online) should report to Brandon High School this Wednesday at 7:20 for SAT testing. This testing will commence between 12:30 – 1:00 and students are free to go home when testing is over. Bussing will be available at the regularly scheduled times. When preparing for testing, please make sure that your student: * Gets a good night’s sleep and a solid breakfast * Brings with them multiple #2 pencils (these can NOT be mechanical), and a calculator * Brings with them a pictured ID * Does not wear a watch of any kind or brings their cell phone with them into the testing room. Athletics: If you plan on attending any Brandon High School or Middle School sports, please read the attached memo, as there are strict rules and guidelines that will need to be followed. Unfortunately, most community members and students will not be able to attend these events until further notice. We thank you for your cooperation in following these guidelines. Chrome Books: Every student should now possess a chrome book that was issued by Brandon High School. If your student did not receive one, please contact our technology department at help@brandon.k12.mi.us. Please see the attached document that illustrates numerous pieces of information dealing with these chrome books. Picture Day: Picture day for all students was rescheduled for September 25th. Students will be called down throughout the school day to have their pictures taken. Brandon Learn From Home students can come in anytime between 2:30 – 4:30 to get these done. These pictures will be in the yearbook, so please dress appropriately. Free COVID Testing: If you are interested in having your family tested for COVID-19 please see the attached document from the Oakland County Health Department with all the vital information. Dates to Place on Your Calendar Now: September 22nd – *New Date* Back to School Night (6:00 – Virtually) September 23rd – SAT Testing for 12th grade students September 23rd – No School for 9th – 11th grade students September 25th - *New Date* Picture Day October 13th & 14th – Parent Teacher Conferences October 13th – PSAT9 testing for all 9th grade students October 14th – PSAT/NMSQT testing for all 10th and 11th grade students October 14th – No school for 9th and 12th grade students October 16th – No School October 19th – Vision Testing for 9th grade students October 30th – ½ Day of school (release at 10:30) If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of our school administrators.
