Summer News and Notes From Brandon High School
 
I truly hope everyone is having a relaxing summer filled with family togetherness, relaxation, and fun in the sun.  With summer nearly half over, I wanted to give you some news and updates as we get ready for the 2016-2017 school year. 
 
BHS Office Hours:  The Brandon High School main office will be open Monday – Thursday from 7:30 – 2:30 starting Monday, July 25th.  If you need anything or have any questions, please stop by. 
 
Welcome Back Packets:  Please look for your Welcome Back Packet that will be mailed to your home sometime in the middle of August.  This packet will contain important information and forms for you to begin the school year. 
 
Counseling Office:  Our counseling office staff will be in August 23rd and 24th during our registration days.  If you need to discuss your schedule or meet with them, please come in and make an appointment during this time. 
 
Registration Days:  Registration days are August 23rd for sophomores and seniors and August 24th for freshmen and juniors.  On these days you will be able to obtain your class schedule, get your school pictures taken, purchase a yearbook at a reduced price, purchase parking passes, etc.
 
Money Owed:  Please be aware that if you owe a fine, or owe money of any kind, that you will not be able to pick up your schedule or purchase a parking pass until this is taken care of. 
 
Summer Math:  For many of our students, math can be their most challenging subject.  Please click HERE or on the following website for summer math practice.  You should be able to do these types of problems in order to be successful in the level of math that you will be taking this school year.

One Million Pages:  I hope everyone is logging their summer reading as we are working on reading one million pages together as a community.  Please click HERE or log on to the following website to record your summer reading.  http://brandonschooldistrict.org/reading-challenge/
 
Incoming 9th Graders:  All 9th graders will start their school year on August 30th with an orientation put on by the BHS Link Crew.  This orientation will feature a fun day that will link them with upper classmen on a journey through life as a Brandon High School student.  This day will start at 8:00 and end at 12:00.  More information will be mailed to your home in a couple of weeks.
 
Athletics:  All Fall sports begin the week of August 8th.   If you are considering playing a Fall sport, you should contact the athletic office and/or consult the BHS athletic page for more information.  Click HERE or go to http://brandonblackhawks.org/

Welcome Chris Deines:  Please help me in welcoming our new Brandon High School Athletic Director Chris Deines.  Chris comes to us highly recommended by the Durand School District where he served as Athletic Director the past 4 years.
