Dear Parents of Brandon High School Juniors and Seniors, Many of your students are considering their options for next year and are beginning to apply to colleges throughout Michigan and the United States. They have taken six semester of high school and have taken the SAT test at least once. In order to increase their likelihood of acceptance into the colleges of their dreams, many students will elect to take the SAT again in hopes of improving their score. Improved test scores not only impact college admissions, but are important for being awarded scholarships as well! Your students have prepared for the ACT their whole lives and for many of them, they have greater chances of getting a high score on the ACT than they do on the new SAT. Therefore, we urge you and your student to consider signing up to take the ACT at this time. There is an ACT test on October 22nd, which would be the ideal test for students to take who are trying to improve their score for college admissions purposes. The registration deadline for that is September 16th, which is only two days away. There is a late registration period (fee involved) of September 17th-30th. Later ACT tests are being offered on December 10th and February 11th as well, though those results will not be received until roughly a month after the tests are taken which may be too late for certain admissions/scholarship situations. Students can sign up to take the ACT at actstudent.org. Students can sign up to retake the SAT at collegeboard.org/SAT Go Blackhawks!
