Senior Parents: As seniors are in the midst of applying for college admission, it's important to also prepare to apply for financial aid. Last year we hosted a financial aid information night to provide a general overview of the financial aid process. If you need a reminder of the information shared, you can view a video of that presentation. Seniors are encouraged to complete their financial aid applications during the month of October, because some financial aid is available on a first come, first served basis. Before completing the FAFSA, your student and one parent in the household must each create an FSA ID and password and gather the information on the FAFSA Checklist. The FSA ID is a username and password unique to the user and should be created at least one week prior to completing the FAFSA. If you feel you will need help completing the FAFSA, Oakland University offers private FAFSA Appointments open to the public at their main campus in Rochester and their campus in Clinton Township; registration is open now. Lastly, Dr. Carrie Gilchrist, Senior Financial Aid Outreach Advisor from Oakland University, will be leading a FAFSA Workshop at BHS on October 26th at 6:00 PM. Any family that would benefit from some extra support in figuring out the FAFSA is encouraged to register for the workshop. Registration through signupgenius.com. Please contact Mr. Brennan (A-K) at mrbrennan@brandon.k12.mi.us or Mrs. Stone (L-Z) at jstone@brandon.k12.mi.us for more information or any other college/financial aid questions you may have. Sincerely, Mike Brennan and Jessica Stone Counselors |
