News and Notes for Brandon High School for the Week of October 22, 2018
College Application Week: Seniors: Many colleges are waiving their application fees if you apply this week. This could save you hundreds of dollars. See the attached flyer for other events going on this week dealing with College Week. 1st Marking Period: It is hard to believe that the first marking period is over in two weeks. Please check the parent portal and make sure that your student has all of their work turned in and all tests and quizzes made up. See your student’s individual teachers if you have questions about their grades. Seniors: Greg Ashe, Senior Financial Aid Outreach Advisor from Oakland University, will be leading a FAFSA Workshop at BHS on October 25th at 6:00 PM. Any family that would benefit from some extra support in figuring out the FAFSA is encouraged to register for the workshop. Space is limited, so please register here. Seniors are encouraged to complete their financial aid applications during the month of October because some financial aid is available on a first come, first served basis. Before completing the FAFSA, your student and one parent in the household must each create an FSA ID and password and gather the information on the FAFSA Checklist. It is advised that you do this at least two days before coming to the FAFSA Workshop. The FSA ID is a username and password unique to the user. Please contact Mr. Brennan (A-K) at mrbrennan@brandon.k12.mi.us or Ms. Wilk (L-Z) at cwilk@brandon.k12.mi.us for more information or any other college/financial aid questions you may have. Hotline: Did you know that we have an anonymous hotline that you could use to report any and all things to the high school administration? The number is 248-660-0138. Non-Homestead Millage: Learn more about the Brandon millage vote that will take place on November 6th from the attached flyer.
