Good morning  Harvey-Swanson families,

It's hard to believe we are beginning week eight of distance learning together and the last two weeks of our school year!  It's going to be a busy week. Staff will be working hard to collect all of the students' belongings so we can get them to you on our Drop off/Pick up Days, students will be taking virtual field trips, and Friday is our Virtual Career Awareness Day.

Here are some important updates for the week:

Drop off/Pick up Days: Click here to see the flyer. Here is some additional information about medications, chrome books, and the flow of traffic:
  • If you are picking up medications that were in our office, please let the staff member know as soon as you pull up to your child’s station and the office staff will bring you the medications.
  • Only JK-1st are returning chrome books for the summer.  If you have a device to return, you only need the device and the charger.  No paperwork is needed.
  • When pulling up to your teacher’s station, if there is open space ahead and you need to pull around a car in order to move forward, please do so very carefully.  The bus loop is wide enough for two vehicles, but just be super cautious.  Thanks so much!

Placement letter:  Each year at the end of May we offer parents the opportunity to give input about their child’s classroom teacher for the following year.  Though we are still working on what next year actually looks like and there are some unknowns at this time, please see the attached letter guidelines, if you are submitting a letter. Please submit letters by June 10th.

Love and Logic: There is a follow-up session of this amazing program. Please click here to read the flyer for more details.

Girl Scouts: Click here to find out about the Girl Scouts Virtual Information Event.

Career Awareness Day is this Friday: The committee is currently finishing up final plans and we will share the details with you soon. Students will have an opportunity to attend at least five 25 min sessions throughout the day.  Thank you to all of the presenters who will be sharing their career with us! Mark your calendar for a day of virtual learning like a Cook’s Farm Dairy tour,  learning all about being a veterinarian with Mrs. Sheldon, and learning about being a reporter from Citizen reporter Shelby Stewart.

Enrollment for 2020-2021: Do you have a new Blackhawk to enroll for next school year or know someone who does? It’s never been easier to enroll. Click here to visit our website to begin our pre-enrollment process. Complete this and someone will contact you to complete your child’s enrollment. We are enrolling all grade levels for the 2020-2021 school year right now! Spread the word!

Parent Survey: During this most unusual time, it is unclear what our classes will look like in the fall. We do know that whatever the final model looks like, your input is very important. Dr. Outlaw sent out a survey that has received an amazing response, and we want to help anyone who hasn’t yet replied. Please complete the survey or contact me at dbrauher@brandon.k12.mi.us if you need the link. Your feedback will help us design a model for fall 2020-2021 that will provide the best education for our kids all the while keeping everyone’s health and well-being the most important thing.

Have a wonderful Monday Harvey-Swanson!

Debbie Brauher
Harvey-Swanson Principal
