News & Notes from BMS for June 17th, 2019
No Backpacks on Monday: We are not allowing students to bring their backpacks to our last day of school on Monday, June 17th. Please remind your student about this. We really appreciate your cooperation with this. 
 
Preschool: The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is a FREE Preschool Program for families that meet program requirements; including eligibility guidelines and/or existing risk factors.  Please note, children must be 4 years old on or before December 1, 2019. The attached flyer has all of the specific information.
 
Brandon Preschool Academy: This is another great opportunity to get your student’s education started off on the right track. The two attached flyers give details and pricing for this amazing program. Don’t miss out.
 
Girl’s Basketball Skills Camp: The Brandon Girls’ Basketball Program will be offering a camp this summer for girls entering grades 1-8 who would like to learn the game, or get in the gym and improve their skills!  Join us for fun and basketball the week of July 22-26 in the Oakwood Elementary Gym from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM. 
 
Meet & Eat: The Brandon School District announces the sponsorship of the Summer Food Services Program for children. Free meals will be made available to children 18 years of age and under or persons up to age 26 who are enrolled in an educational program for the mentally or physically disabled that is recognized by a State or local public educational agency. Please read the attached flyer for more details.
 
Summer Enrichment:   We have lowered camp prices with the hope that more of our students can participate.  Financial assistance is available.  Classes are held at BMS so they can take advantage of the free summer feeding program. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity.
 
Extra Yearbooks: There are yearbooks remaining for those who did not pre-order. BMS was fortunate to unexpectedly receive a limited number of additional yearbooks from the printer. These will be for sale starting Thursday, June 13, at 7:40 A.M. during 1st hour. Students should bring cash or check payable to BMS and report to room 222 after The Pledge of Allegiance. Yearbooks are $47.70 (tax included)
 
Study Skills: The Oakland University SEHS Counseling Center will once again offer our Study Skills Groups for Elementary, Middle, and High School students over the summer.  Study Skills groups are facilitated by students near the end of their Master of Arts in Counseling Program, and will be offered three consecutive Saturdays in July. The attached flyer has the contact information. 

BMS Media Center Update: Once again the BMS Media Center had an amazing year. Please read the attached memo from the BMS Media Center. 

Last Day of School: Families! Brandon Middle School is ready to celebrate the end of a wonderful school year! We are having an “End of the Year Celebration” for all grade levels on the last day of school, Monday, June 17! There will be a variety of fun stations the students can choose from, and we need your help to supervise the stations or to donate goods.  6th grade participates from 7:40 - 8:35, 7th grade participates from 8:45 - 9:40, and 8th grade participates from 9:55 - 10:50.
