Parents and Community Members:

Education Exploration:  Tomorrow, Wednesday, February 24th, is the big night!  Please see the attached flyer for more details, but some of the highlights are:
- Parents and students can get an in-depth look at every club, program, activity, sport and class that we have to offer.
- The Chamber of Commerce will be in the cafeteria for their Business Expo.  This will include over 20 local businesses for all to come and see.
- Students and parents can come and hear brief presentations about our Advanced Placement programs, Career and Technical Programs, the Oakland Technical Campus, Science, Technology and Math (CTE) programs, Virtual Learning, and more.
- A college guidance counselor will be here to give you tips of what you should be doing as early as your freshmen year to prepare you for college and to answer your questions.
- There will be a special presentation at 6:15 for students and parents who are currently in the 8th grade, which will prepare you for scheduling and coming to Brandon High School next year.
- There will be a boy’s basketball triple header with games starting at 4:00, 5:30, and 7:00.
- The school store and café will be open with snacks and food.

Scheduling for Next Year:  All student schedule forms are due back to the Counseling Office.  Students were given forms to fill out to request classes for next school year.  These forms were due back to the Counseling Office Monday, Feb 22nd.  Please make sure that your student turned this form in and that a parent signature is on it.

Advanced Placement:  AP Exam registration is next week.  It is highly encouraged that all students taking an AP class take the exam.  Any student who is in an AP class will be given an AP Exam registration form.  The AP Exam is an opportunity for students to earn college credit for these classes, potentially saving ~$1,500 per college class.  Please have students turn AP Exam registration forms (one per exam) in to the counseling office with payment during the week of February 29th - March 4th during lunches.

NWEA Testing:  This week begins NWEA testing for all 9th and 10th grade students in Math and English.  This testing will help inform both parents and teachers of where their student is as compared to others in the learning process.  These scores could also be used to help determine placements for next year.

Athletics:  Please see this week’s attached athletic schedule. We hope to see you at a game, match, or competition.

Have a great week and Go Blackhawks!

Your Partner in Education,

Daniel M. Stevens
Principal
