News and Notes for Brandon High School for the Week of March 4, 2019

Make-Up Days:  Days that need to be made up due to excessive snow days:  2 to 4 days (assuming no additional snow days for the remainder of the winter)

Scenario 1 (No State action):  We would make up 3 days on June 17, 18, 19 and 20.

Scenario 2 (Days declared an emergency by the new governor are forgiven):  2 days additional could be forgiven for the days that the Governor declared a State of Emergency in Michigan due to cold temperatures.  In this case, the last day of school would likely be June 18.

Scenario 3 (TBD) - There are several bills floating around the legislature at this time, so anything is possible.

We will continue to keep you posted as things develop, but I would plan on students being in school the week of June 17th.

Congratulations:  Congratulations to Social Studies teacher Matt Prevost who is this year’s Brandon School District Secondary Teacher of the Year!  Matt will now be considered for Oakland County Teacher of the Year as well.

Career Pathways:  Scheduling for classes next year begins next week.  As you talk to your student about the proper classes they should be taking, please look over the attached Career Pathways pamphlet that will be extremely helpful in the decision making process.

Career Expos:  Oakland Schools and Waterford Kettering High School will be hosting career expos both for parents and students.  Please see the attached flyers for these great opportunities that are happening on March 13th and March 26th.

College Fair:  Lake Orion High School puts on one of the best College Fairs in the state.  If you are starting to look at colleges and universities, this event that will take place on March 18th is a must for our students.  Please see the attached flyer for more details.
