News and Notes For Brandon High School For the Week of October 28, 2019

Haunted Hallways:  This Monday, October 28th, Brandon High School will be hosting Haunted Hallways from 6:00 – 8:00.  Please bring your elementary aged students for a spooky good time which will include arts and crafts, candy, and many other activities.  Please wear your Halloween costumes.

Challenge Day:  Once again this year on November 21st, BHS will be offering our students to attend Challenge Day.  This truly has been a life altering experience for our students, staff, and community members that have been a part of this.  Please encourage your student to sign up for this amazing experience.  If any parent would like to also be a part of this day, please contact Dan Stevens at dstevens@brandon.k12.mi.us or by calling 248-627-1822.  Please click HERE for the Challenge Day website to get more information and see a promotional video.

Winter Sports Season:  Is your student planning on playing a Winter sport?  Tryouts officially begin the week of November 11th.  Please make sure that your student has a physical on file with the athletic department so that they can participate.  These physicals must be updated yearly.

End of Marking Period #1:  It’s hard to believe, but this Friday marks the end of the first marking period.  Please check the Parent Portal to see your student’s grades.  Do they have any missing assignments to make up before grades are finalized?  Report cards will be sent home on November 8th.

ASVAB Career Exploration Program:  One of the absolute best tools for career exploration is the ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP).  The ASVAB CEP consists of two parts, the ASVAB test which focuses on career strengths and part two which is the career exploration workshop, in which students will learn about their career interests, then explore jobs which match their skills and interests.  The ASVAB is also used as the military entrance test, but scores will not be automatically shared with any recruiters.  Students are encouraged to sign up for the ASVAB CEP whether they are interested in the military or not.  Students can register in the counseling office or by emailing jwilliamson@brandon.k12.mi.us.

Seniors:  Senior portraits are due to Mrs. Kelsey on November 1! It's your senior year - make sure you are in the senior section of the YEARBOOK!!! Also, seniors need to turn in their KINDERGARTEN pictures on November 1st as well!  The yearbook still has room for senior ads! See a yearbook staff member or Mrs. Kelsey for details. Order forms are available in room 230 and in the main office, as well as online.

Continuing Education:  The Brandon School District Community Education Department is offering many programs throughout the month of November.  Please see the attached flyer for program details.
