News and Notes for Brandon High School for the Week of May 18, 2020.

Classroom Updates:  We are excited to announce that currently our attendance for students attending online class sessions has been really high.  However, please make sure that your student is completing the assigned homework that goes along with these class sessions.  If you have questions about these assignments, please contact your student’s individual teachers.

Monday, May 25th:  Due to the Memorial Day Holiday we will not be holding online class session on Monday, May 25th.  These classes will be made up on Thursday, May 28th at their same times.  Please make sure that your student is in attendance on this day.

Book / Material Returns:  Please mark June 11th and 12th on your calendar for student book and technology returns for grades 9-11.  More details are to come.  We are hopeful that students will be able to come into the building to clean out their lockers on this day as well.  Stay tuned for more details.

Senior Information:  This Thursday from 1:00 – 3:00 according to your last name, seniors will be able to drop off any books, technology, and materials back to Brandon High School, as well as pick up their caps and gowns.  See the attachment for specific directions.

Medications:  If you have any medications still on file at BHS, please come in on Thursday from 1:00 – 3:00 to pick these up.  Please wear a mask when entering the building and follow all social distancing norms.

High School Graduation:  There are few other groups that have been so impacted by the closure of schools as high school seniors.  The high school administration has been working with members of the senior class to find meaningful and legal alternatives to the traditional graduation ceremony.  Specifics will be shared directly with the senior class, but plans include personalized yard signs, videos, staff farewells and, at some point, students walking across the stage and receiving their diplomas.  With the Governor’s current order expiring on May 28th, our hope is that the next order will allow greater flexibility.  The high school plans to announce final details by June 1st and are asking seniors and their parents to reserve June 19th and 20th for this portion of the celebration.

Financial Aid Presentation:  You are invited to attend a virtual financial aid presentation to learn general information regarding the financial aid process. Just like a Financial Aid Night held in-person each year at BHS, the knowledgeable Financial Aid experts from Oakland University will provide general information able to be used no matter what college or university students plan to attend.

Topics include the elements of financial aid, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), variety of resources available, and more!

Please join this virtual presentation from your computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone using either WiFi or cellular service. Below are linked handouts available for download, print, or viewing during the presentation.
