News and Notes for Brandon High School for the Week of October 9, 2017

Parent / Teacher Conferences:  Parent Teacher Conferences are this week on Tuesday (3:00 – 6:00) and on Wednesday (5:00 – 8:00).  Please plan on coming out to BHS to meet your student’s teachers and talk about their progress.

Juniors:  Is your student taking the PSAT test this Wednesday?  If so, please make sure that they get a good night sleep the night before, a great breakfast in the morning, and remind them to bring with them multiple pencils and a calculator.  This test could qualify them for National Scholarship money.

Challenge Day:  Challenge Day is a national program designed at breaking down the walls with our students allowing students, staff, and community members to see each other for who they are on the inside instead of following stereotypes.  We are looking for community members that would like to join us on this day to be a part of this amazing experience that is sure to change lives.  If you would like to be a part of this on either October 24th or 25th (7:00 – 2:45), please email Principal Dan Stevens at dstevens@brandon.k12.mi.us.  Go to challengeday.org and watch the video that pops up for more information.

No School Friday:  There will be no school this Friday, October 13th for all students.  Enjoy your long weekend!

Principal’s Council:  We are looking for parents that would like to be a part of our Principal’s Council.  During these sessions, administration will be filling in parents on what is going on at BHS while getting feedback from parents on how to improve our school.  Our first meeting is Tuesday, October 17th starting at 6:00 at BHS.  Please contact Assistant Principal Dave Wyatt if you are interested in being a part of our emails for this group at dwyatt@brandon.k12.mi.us.

After School Tutoring:  Does you student need a quiet place to do their homework after school with teachers and students that can help them?  Starting next week in room #207 and #213 we will have this available every Tuesday and Thursday.  Please urge your students to take advantage of this opportunity.

Research Using Databases:  Please see the attached letter with important information for students that are researching anything for high school or college.  MEL is the number one resource in Michigan for our students to use.  Thank you to our local library for putting this together for us.
