News and Notes for Brandon High School for the Week of November 13, 2017

Report Cards:  Marking Period 1 report cards were given to your student on Friday.  They can also be accessed online through the Parent Portal.  Everyone starts fresh on Monday with the start of the 2nd marking period.

Sophomore Trip:  All interested sophomores will be taking a field trip to the Oakland Technical Campus in Clarkston this Tuesday, November 14th.  If you do not have your permission slip in on Monday you will not be able to attend.

Fall Play:  “You Can’t Beat the House”, a comedy by Pat Cook, follows two burglars who break into a house only to find that it’s for sale. However, they quickly realize that getting out is tougher than breaking in! They become buyers when the agent enters then agents when the buyers enter, but who are they when the cop and his mother enter?!? Come join us for a night of fun and laughter.  Play dates are November 16, 17, & 18 at 7 pm in the PAC.  Tickets are only $5.00!

OCEF Donations:  Brandon High School is a drop off point for OCEF donations.  Please consider helping the needy right here in our own community.  Please see the attached flyer for items that you can bring.

Winter Clothing:  Please remind your students to have a sweatshirt or other warm clothing while at school.  Many of our rooms fluctuate in temperature and some are warmer than others.  Students are not allowed to wear their coats in class or have blankets.

Winter Roads:  Please remind our student drivers that they may have to leave a little bit earlier in the mornings to arrive to school on time when there is inclement weather.  Students must be in their seats ready to go for 1st hour each day at 7:25.

Anonymous:  Would you like to report something to the administration of Brandon High School anonymously?  We have an anonymous hotline that goes to our administration 24 hours a day and can be called or texted to 248-660-0138.

Ortonville Rotary youth Exchange:  Ortonville Rotary is offering Brandon High School students the opportunity to study overseas in any one of 30 different countries around the world. Students need to apply this fall and attend language and cultural training over the winter and spring time periods before leaving for their new family next August. Be the student that sets yourself apart from others, and spend the 2018-19 school year living, learning and having fun in another country. This program is backed by a volunteer force of 36,000 Rotary clubs with more than 1.2 million Rotary members. Go to 6380youth.org  or contact Rotarian Bob Pence at 248-627-4131 or Rotarian Ernie Ludwig at 248-627-4203  to learn more about the program.
