Community members:

In Brandon, our community is a family.  Recently the Brandon family lost one of our own to suicide.  Despite the efforts of the student's friends, family, and mental health professionals inside and outside of the school, the student chose to take his life, and this loss deeply affects every single one of us.  In these times of terrible pain is when it is most important that family comes together to support one another.

Just as any of us would look out for a brother or sister who is in danger, we should all consider it one of our most important responsibilities to look out for our Brandon brothers and sisters as well.  If you or anyone you know is going through a hard time, dealing with depression, self-harm or thoughts of suicide, please support one another and get help.

If you are worried about yourself or someone else, tell a parent, teacher or your school counselor.  Contact OK2Say at 8-555-OK2SAY (855-565-2729) or text 652729 (OK2SAY).  Call/text the Blackhawk Hotline at 248-660-0138 or call 911.

Remember that there are people who care about you.  There is good in the world and there is light beyond the darkness.

Sincerely,

The Mental Health Staff
