Kindergarten
- Children five years old before September 1 of the current year.
- Full-day Kindergarten offers students a rich curriculum with time to explore, create, socialize and learn. This program is held at each elementary school and transportation is provided for in-district students.
- Child resides in Brandon School District boundaries.
Jr. Kindergarten
- Students turning five years old on or before December 1 of the current year are eligible for the Jr. Kindergarten program. This program is a two year Kindergarten program. They will attend Jr. Kindergarten the first year and traditional kindergarten the second year
- Child resides in Brandon School District boundaries.
- Jr. Kindergarten offers students opportunities to grow and learn through a play-based curriculum.Jr. Kindergarten is a full-day program housed at our elementary sites and transportation is provided for in-district students.

Online Enrollment Registration
Online enrollment for Jr. Kindergarten and Kindergarten for 2024-2025 will open on February 9, 2024. You will need to gather the required documents for each child you wish to enroll. Visit the Enrollment home page for more information.
Can an out-of-district family apply for Brandon Schools Kindergarten & Jr. Kindergarten?
Yes, the application window has not been released yet. Families are notified of their acceptance 15 days after the application window closes.
How does the In-District School of Choice process work?
Parents who reside within district boundaries may request that their child attend a Brandon school outside of their home-school attendance area if the family is moving into a different attendance area or if another student at the same address attends a different school. Parents must complete an “In-District School of Choice Request” and submit it to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Parents will be notified by mid-August regarding the status of their request. Approvals for School of Choice are based on class size. Transportation is the parent/guardian's responsibility.
Who should attend our Jr. Kindergarten Program?
If a child turns five years old between June 1– August 31, 2024, he/she is eligible to attend our Jr. Kindergarten program.
Students turning five years old between September 1 and December 1 attend our Jr. Kindergarten program to develop:
- Confidence
- Social skills
- Oral language development
- Motor skills
- Attention span
- Independence
- School readiness
Our Jr. Kindergarten Program is a full-day program with classes located at our elementary sites.
I am unsure about which option is best for my child. Who should I talk to?
Please contact the principal of the building your child will (or may) be attending. They will be happy to speak with you and answer any questions you may have.
After I choose an option, can I change my mind prior to school starting?
Please contact your home school to discuss this placement decision.
Is transportation provided?
Brandon residents attending Kindergarten or Jr. Kindergarten at their home school will be provided district transportation. (District transportation is provided to children living more than one mile from their home school.) Parents will be required to provide transportation for children attending Kindergarten or Jr. Kindergarten outside of their home school attendance area.
If my student is currently in Junior Kindergarten, do I have to re-enroll them for Kindergarten?
The enrollment process does not have to be done again if your student is currently in the Jr. Kindergarten Program. Your student will be rolled up to Kindergarten in their home school. This is also true for Kindergarten students, they will be rolled up to First Grade.
If my student is currently in a Brandon Preschool program do I have to re-enroll them for Jr. Kindergarten or Kindergarten?
The enrollment process does not have to be done again if your student is currently in a Brandon Preschool program. Your student will be rolled up to Jr. Kindergarten or Kindergarten in their home school.

- Kindergarten Oral Health Assessment Form
- Parent's drivers' license
- Lease or Mortgage statement
- Current utility bill
- Kindergarten Waiver Request - According to the change in Michigan Law (State of Michigan: Act #198, effective 6/26/12) children entering kindergarten must be 5 years old by September 1st. Any child enrolling in Kindergarten who resides in a public school district providing kindergarten may enroll if the child is at least 5 years of age on or before December 1st. If your child will be 5 between September 1st and December 1st, and you would like them to attend Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year, please complete and sign this form.
