Early College & Dual Enrollment

Brandon High School students can enroll and earn college credit through one of several Early/Middle College programs or a traditional Dual Enrollment program. These programs are designed to provide students with an opportunity to start as early as the junior year in college classes at a significant reduction or no cost at all for the college classes.

Early/Middle College programs provide students with an opportunity to earn a significant amount of college credit beginning in the junior year through one year after high school, often referred to as a 13th year. Students in these programs can finish their program with an associates (2 year) degree, a technical certificate or close to half of the credits needed for a bachelor’s degree. Students participate in senior year activities and commencement as expected, but will not receive their high school diploma until the completion of their program in the 13th year.

Traditional Dual Enrollment allows students to begin earning college credits in their junior year as part of their high school schedule. Students can take up to two Dual Enrollment courses per semester in both their junior and senior year of high school.
