Early College & Dual Enrollment

Brandon High School students can earn college credit while still in high school. See below for options.

Oakland Schools ACE Program

  • Accelerated College Experience (ACE)
  • Early College Program for students in Oakland County
  • Partnership between local school districts, Oakland Community College, and Oakland Schools
  • Dual enrolled junior and senior year at BHS and OCC
  • Includes a 13th year where all coursework is taken at OCC
  • Students who complete the program earn a high school diploma from BHS and an associate's degree from OCC.
    • Applicants must be a current 10th grade student and have an overall high school GPA of 2.0+ 
    • Earn qualifying scores on Reading and Writing placement tests or standardized testing
    • Interested in learning more? Attend a family information night hosted by ACE
    • Apply by late February of your 10th grade year 
  • Cost of tuition, books, and registration fee are covered, leaving minimal cost to families

Oakland Technical Early College (OTEC)

  • OTEC Early College is offered in conjunction with OSTC. For a list of programs that offer OTEC, click here
  • Students would be enrolled at BHS, OSTC, and OCC simultaneously
  • Includes a 13th year where all coursework is taken at OCC
  • Students who complete the program earn a high school diploma from BHS and a technical associate's degree from OCC.
    • Applicants must be a current 10th grade student AND plan on attending OSTC for junior and senior year 
    • Interested in learning more? Attend a family information night hosted by OTEC
    • Apply by late April of your 10th grade year
  • Cost of tuition, books, and registration fee are covered, leaving minimal cost to families

University of Michigan Flint DEEP Program

  • Partnership with UM-Flint, Clarkston High School, and Brandon High School
  • Students take 2-3 college courses per semester (4-6 per year) in the programs below:
    • Humanities (12 credits)
    • Liberal Arts (12 credits)
    • Medical Sciences (13 credits)
  • Courses are held at Clarkston High School during 5th and 6th hours and taught by faculty from University of Michigan Flint
    • Applicants must be a current 10th grade student and have an overall GPA of 3.0+
    • Interested in learning more? DEEP comes to Brandon for a presentation, usually in January. Contact the counseling office for more information. 
    • Apply by February of your 10th grade year (applications also available in the counseling office)
  • Discounted tuition from UM Flint
Brandon Early College (UM Flint 13th year)
  • Must be enrolled in the UM-Flint Deep Program to apply for the 13th year
  • Students are enrolled in BHS but attend UM-Flint full time
  • Discounted tuition from UM Flint allows students to accumulate approximately 50 college credits by the end of the 13th year

  • Students apply for Dual Enrollment through a local college or university and take one or more college courses 
  • Available for students who have exhausted the BHS curriculum in a given subject
    • ex. A student pursuing business has taken all courses at BHS is eligible to take a college business course
  • Brandon School District will pay a pre-determined amount toward the cost of each dual enrollment course a student takes and passes
    • Payment typically covers the full tuition for a community college course and around 40% of a university course
  • Eligibility is based on a combination of student grades, test scores, and educational development plan (EDP)
  • Interested students should review the steps below and contact their counselor or stop by the counseling office for more information
    1. BHS Application for Dual Enrollment (available in the counseling office or email your counselor)
    2. Tuition Calculator Form (available in the counseling office or email your counselor) 
    3. High School DE Payment and Authorization Form (found in Step 1 on OCC website)
***Dropping a dual enrollment course after the college's drop period, or failure of a course will result in forfeiture of Brandon School Districts financial contribution and cost will become family responsibility.***
